Join a dedicated team of healthcare professionals who will deliver an unparalleled educational experience for all participants.
FUNDAMENTALS OF PERIOPERATIVE NURSING
Fundamentals of perioperative nursing are the essential principles that guide health care professionals in providing safe and efficient care for patients within the operating theatre complex.
These principles cover a broad range of pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative activities, including patient assessment, monitoring for deterioration during surgery and in PACU. Additionally, they include educating staff on how to improve communication and respond to clinical emergencies such as shock, anaphylaxis and sepsis.
This 20-hour CPD course is recommended for nurses who work in the perioperative environment. Education sessions will include interactive presentations, case studies and simulations.
At the end of this course the participant should be able to..
• Identify, assess and manage a medical emergency in the perioperative environment using a structured approach.
• Discuss and review acute clinical presentations commonly seen in PACU.
• Review the NSQHS standards that are used in the perioperative setting and discuss how they are implemented to improve clinical practice and ensure patient safety.
• Outline the importance of teamwork, leadership and communication during a perioperative emergency.
